Brennan's top five No. 12 picks in NHL history.

1. Marian Hossa

Ottawa, 1997

One of the most talented players to ever wear a Senators jersey is also the best No. 12 pick of all time. Hossa, who spent seven seasons in Ottawa, has played for five NHL teams, compiling 499 goals and 1,089 points in 1,236 games. At 37, he’s still going strong with the Chicago Blackhawks.

2. Gary Roberts

Calgary, 1984

The former 67’s star had a an exceptional, 21-year NHL career that was interrupted for most of two seasons by a serious neck injury. After 1,224 games, 438 goals and 909 points, he finally retired as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2009.

3. Dave Gagner

New York Rangers, 1983

Emerged as a strong offensive player with the Minnesota North Stars in 1989, when he started a string of six consecutive 30-plus goal seasons.. Ended a 15-year career that saw him notch 719 points in 946 games with Vancouver in 1999.

4. Ryan McDonagh

Montreal, 2007

A trade the Habs are still regretting saw them deal a then 20-year-old McDonagh to New York along with Doug Janik, Chris Higgins and Pavel Valentenko for Scott Gomez, Michael Busto and Tom Pyatt. McDonagh is now the Rangers’ best defenceman and their captain.

5. Alex Tanguay

Colorado, 1998

Has scored more than 20 goals seven times and has 863 points in a career that has spanned 1,088 games. Traded from Colorado to Arizona, his sixth NHL team, during the 2015-16 season, and at 36, he is about to become a UFA.
